Paintings

Memory and Daydream

When I paint I recall my experience of looking, smelling, tasting, feeling, and hearing. I recognize my feelings, my mood and my thoughts. A painting is a kind of window into the inner world. It is also itself in our shared world. When making a painting it is a balance to stay in the moment of making and the swirl of the mind.

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more.
-Lord Byron
